LET NO MAN DESPISE THY YOUTH

I Timothy 4:12

"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."

INTRODUCTION:

1. I Timothy 4:12 – Let no man despise thy youth.

DISCUSSION:

I. Live a life of separation.

A. From sinful places – Proverbs 6:27-28.

B. From sinful people – II Corinthians 6:14.

C. From sinful practices – I Timothy 5:22.

II. Live a life of self-denial.

A. Jesus taught the necessity of self-denial – Luke 9:23-24.

B. We must be willing to think of long-term rewards rather than instant gratification.

III. Live a life of strengthening.

A. Develop firm convictions concerning that which is right – Daniel 1:8.

B. While you are young, work toward putting on the whole armor of God – Ephesians 6:10-13.

C. Spiritual strength is an indication of wisdom – Proverbs 24:5.

IV. Live a life of submission.

A. To the authority of Christ – Matthew 28:18, I Corinthians 11:3.

B. To civil authorities – Romans 13:1-7.

C. To the authority of parents – Luke 2:51, Ephesians 6:1-3.

CONCLUSION:

1. Let no man despise thy youth.

2. Live a life:

a) Of separation.

b) Of self-denial.

c) Of strengthening.

d) Of submission.
